Message of CTPS - A Happy Diwali & A Healthy
Diwali
Students and
teachers of CT Public School have decided to
celebrate Diwali in a HEALTHY way this year. Due
to adulteration of sweets and other food products,
everybody is in doldrums these days – should we
consume ‘Mithai’ or not? Thus CT Public School has
understood its responsibility as an educational
institution and a unique activity was held today
to spread awareness about consumption of Mithais.

So, what’s
the big idea? Let us make sweets at home and be
sure of what we are eating. The students of CT
Public School were today seen enthusiastically
involved in making Walnut laddoos with the help of
their teachers. After washing hands, wearing
gloves and caps, children of primary classes did
the pre-preparation of the sweets. Then under the
able guidance of Co-ordinator Mrs. Manju Virk and
class teachers, the children mixed the ingredients
and rolled the ‘Mithai’ into shape. It turned out
to be a delicacy! Each student relished the sweets
and promised to take the message home that we
should be ware of adulterated food, specially
sweets during festival season.

Students also
made Diwali cards for their parents and carried
them home along with the sweets and diyas.
All the
teachers also wished a Happy and Prosperous Diwali
to Co-Chairperson Mrs. Parminder Kaur Channi and
Principal Mrs. Lakhvinder Kaur. The Principal of
the school addressed the students and advised them
to enjoy Diwali safely. She spoke about value of
good health and thus need of avoiding consumption
of adulterated food items. Madam Principal guided
the children to celebrate the festival of lights
without bursting crackers. If at all they do, they
can arrange a community celebration.
Co-Chairperson Mrs. Parminder Kaur Channi was
happy to see the enthusiasm of the students as
they were actively involved in the activity. She
wished a Happy Diwali to all present.
Students of CT Public School Celebrate World Food
Day by Sharing
As the world celebrates the Food Day, there are
millions that are still starving. It is ironical
that while crores are spent by government to buy
hi tech. weapons, fighter air crafts, missiles
etc. no one pays attention to food shortage. There
are still others who are lucky to have good food
like in most developed nations but they waste food
like anything. On one hand there is food shortage
while on other hand people waste it.

Students of CT Public School were sensitized about
food problems by their teachers today. In a unique
activity, students learnt to share food with the
needy and deprived. A team of students visited
nearby areas and motivated people to change their
attitude of doubting and to start sharing and
donating food to the needy.
The Principal of the school, Mrs. Lakhvinder Kaur
said, “Even our religions give us the message of
sharing with those who don’t have. So we at CTPS
want to inculcate good values in our students.
Food is the basic necessity and it is a shame that
millions are starving and dying of hunger at a
juncture where man is ready to find life on moon.”
The Chairman
of CT Edu. Society, S Charanjit Singh Channi asked
all students and teachers not to waste food but to
share with the needy.
Hostel Students of CT Public School Trained in
Disaster Mangement
Be it
Tsunami, an earthquake, a tragic fire, a building
collapsing or floods - there is always loss of
life. Disasters have always caught man unawares.
After any major disaster people discuss what
should be the safety measures but soon the debate
dies down.
CT Public
School has taken an initiative to train its
students in DISASTER MANAGEMENT so that they can
be of help to the society. The drill was held at
the Hostel where students from India and abroad
reside. Mrs. Anuradha Sharma, H.O.D Social Science
guided students that panic in such situations
creates maximum problems. So, she gave tips on how
not to loose the cool and also provided practical
training for rescue work.

Following
points were stressed:
· In case of fire, one should not run as it
will aggravate the fire. Roll on the ground to
extinguish the fire. If you are a rescue worker
and you have a blanket, wrap it tightly around the
person to extinguish the fire.
· In a room filled with smoke, one should
sit at a low level to be able to breathe.
· Use of sand and water for fire
extinguishing.
· Making of Human Stretchers was explained
and demonstrated to the students.
· Students were also trained in the use of
fire extinguishers.
The students
were told that they should always take safety
precautions so that mishaps can be avoided.
Students were very much involved in the Disaster
Management Drill and promised to be useful
citizens for the society. Anamika, a student of
10th std. said,” I feel really responsible and if
need be I can now handle any situation with all
this information given to us.”
Mrs. Lakhvinder Kaur, Principal of CT Public
School said,” I want that all my students should
be able to manage in case they face a disaster.
From time to time we at CT Public School will
educate the students in such practical issues.”
‘Halloween’ Celebrated
by NRI Students of CT Public School
Halloween,
also called All Hallows Eve or All saints Eve is a
popular festival of the West which is celebrated
on 31st October annually. It is associated with
black and orange colours with symbols like
‘Jack-o-lantern’ and attending costume parties,
ghost tours, bonfires etc. just before the All
Saints Day.

Halloween was
celebrated by NRI students of CT Public School
today. Students wore ghost masks, cut pumpkins
into lanterns and lit candles in them. A ghost
costume party was held at the Hostel and all the
kids sang “trick or treat” and collected lots of
candies.

In olden
times Celts thought that on this day the
difference between the other world and this world
becomes very thin and thus started the tradition
of wearing ghost masks to ward off the evil
spirits.

Principal,
Mrs. Lakhvinder Kaur said, “CT Public School is a
school that provides Global Education to Indian as
well as NRI students. We celebrate all festivals
such as Diwali, Guruparab and Christmas. This year
our students have enjoyed Halloween and learnt
what its relevance is. I am glad that we are
bringing the East and the West together.”
